Steine, Tusche, Papier und Pixel 數說托片

Steine, Tusche, Papier und Pixel 數說托片 (Stone, Ink, Paper & Pixel) in the Museum of Printing Leipzig explores the ancient art of Chinese stone rubbing — a technique over 2,000 years old used to reproduce texts and images. The exhibition features modern rubbings of historical inscriptions and engravings, spanning from the Zhou Dynasty (1027–221 BC) to the 20th century. The timeless beautiful illustrative prints come from the collection of former Gesellschaft für Deutsch-Chinesische Freundschaft Berlin.

One of the highlights is the use of Augmented Reality: the traditional method of linocut to creative modern interpretations inspired by the stone prints which have been transformed into vibrant linocut animations in AR technology – as a dialogue between the past with modern artistry.

Studio Wu 無 is responsible for the artistic work, exhibition design as well as part of the youth education program.

Exhibition is in cooperation with Confucius-Institute Leipzig and funded by Bildungsnetzwerk China.
