Statement by the jury:
In Paris Toujours the artist Yimeng Wu captures life and her favourite places in the French capital in wonderful sketches. The idea of putting quotations from classic 19th and 20th century chansons next to her pencil drawings of present-day Paris ceates an additional highly poetic level to the book. Wu expresses the essence of what it means to be a Parisian woman in this city of glamour in fascinating Indian ink paintings, a technique she uses to demonstrate that true beauty cannot be immaculate. Without doubt one of the most stunning illustrated books of recent times.
